Presentation: "Whachatalkin'bout? A look into teaching meaningful pronunciation practice"
Description of the presentation:
What do I teach and how do I know if they've learnt? When it comes to pronunciation, many of us don't know where to start or how to gauge learning. In this presentation, we will focus on scaffolding pronunciation strategies (both at the segmental and suprasegmental levels). We will also look at tasks that students not only enjoyed but also demonstrated language development using web 2.0 tools in a blended learning environment. Finally, we will explore accountability and transparency in evaluating pronunciation.
Danny has a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics and has been teaching English as an additional language at leading universities and colleges internationally and locally for 11 years. He has specialized in the acquisition of second language pronunciation strategies since 2007. Currently, he is exploring new ways to blend web 2.0 tools into curriculum to foster innovative methods of language practice.
